I dont know how the title justifies the rules of the puzzle ,but this is how it was called by the organizers of OAPC. I interpret this as a tetromino minesweeper with constrained tapa-like clues.
Rules: Place all the 7 tetrominos into the white squares without touching, not even diagonally. The clues indicate sizes of blocks of contiguous black cells around the cell with the clue.Figures cannot occupy the clues.
The 1s and 3s make good break-ins, and the ending is good too.
ReplyDeleteIt should be pointed out that the "7 tetrominoes" are the set of tetrominoes where reflections are counted as distinct, but rotations are allowed. So, the Tetris playset. Mnemonic is JO LISZT.
Yes,it should.But i thought it is implied,atleast to experienced audience :)
ReplyDeleteTo bring to your attention, those were not the intended break-ins.I started this with a sweet break-in in the top left. The clues down south-east were used to save a '0' in the top-right instead of the '2'.
ReplyDeletehuh, i mean prevent a '0'.
ReplyDeleteWell, it's hard to see anything specific with the 23 and 3 clues in that corner. The 11 and both nearby 3's solidify that edge, making the 23 easier to work with. Though I guess finding that the 3 of the 23 can't bend would be a good step.
ReplyDeleteAnd sure, the 1 clue importantly forces that tetromino to be an L, but the way it assists in forcing the T is also quite nice.
Hmmm...thats wat i mean-the 23,3 alone do not fix that corner.The '11' also plays a role.
ReplyDeleteThe top-left is a strong break-in,or i would not have constructed this from that end.
First, the 23 and 3 give you the 'I' figure to start with.Next, the 23,3 and 11 together force the next figure to be a reflected 'L'(the other L would violate '3').This leaves you with only the reflected 'N' between the 3 and 12 in the south.
