NEWS is a nice puzzle. It was first seen at a JPC.
Rules:Place the given directions in the grid so that each region contains exactly two directions. Directions in one region should satisfy their positions to each other. No direction can be repeated within a row or column.
Well, I don't think there are enough clues. The N in R1C5 is the only letter I can place in that region, and the E in R3C2 is the only letter I can place in any of the six regions partly occupying R4-5.
ReplyDeleteFor progress, you might want to look at the interactions between the L-shaped and I-shaped regions around the top and bottom-left.Despite that,it needs a South in R2C6 and E in R6C7
ReplyDeleteI had seen that interaction, actually.
DeleteBut the new grid with the three(!) new clues still has multiple solutions. The South you say R2C6 holds (not in the graphic) still doesn't determine which of R5C23 contains North. But including that North will let solvers determine that South.
